hi friends,

ive jus done 100 motorway miles in limp mode... (revs 2.5k max, erratic gears, harsh engine noise).. i didnt knw i was limping until i checking with the forum.

so the cars booked in on monday @mb, but i need to get back home 100 motorway miles away!
any advice on doin this journey? am i likely to damage the engine or other components? what speed should i do? am i likely to breakdown?
HELP

cheers

did you try stopping the car, leaving it a few mins and re starting?

hi,

no, didnt think of restarting + i was on the motorway jus wantd to get to wher i was goin

Are you a member of RAC/AA. I wouldn't want to damage it any further if I was you, as it could end up more expensive.

The purpose of limp home is to put the ECU into a safe map so that there is no damage.
It should be safe to drive, albeit at reduced power.

Given the choice though, I'd get it recovered.
