Linguatronic retrofit - 2005 W209 CLK LHD

Hi all,

I am writting from Spain and I am trying to retrofit linguatronic (VCS) to my 2005 W209 CLK LHD. My car has Comand and 386 UHI telephone installed from factory. I have read all around to see if anyone has done it and I have found some people has retrofitted it with success but I don't seem to find anyone having it done to my same model so I can't find the right parts for it.

I saw Miro explains here the procedure for a RHD SLK:

I have also found a yunkyard VCS module from a G class that I don't know if it would fit my car, the part number is: A 230 820 28 26 (the VCS is in Spanish). Somebody has told me it might not fit my car as the G class has the D2B version of the linguatronic kit, and I would need the MOST based version since I have the model updated CLK. Do yu guys think this is correct?

Also, I am looking for the correct part numbers for:

VCS module
W209 steering column cover BLACK
switch stalk with VCS
lever
w209 trim piece kit to complete steering column
W209 VCS harness for wiring and connectors.
MOST fibre 30cm to 50cm

Have done this modification a few times.

Firstly whoever told you that a GL is D2B is wrong. GL is MOST based.

The parts list you have is just about right.

Have a look at Richards excellent website http://www.mercupgrades.com

You will need to install the lever on the steering column which means getting the steering wheel off. Be careful here as if you rotate the contact spiral too far without the wheel on you will have serious problems. You will need to carefully disassemble the steering wheel boss and install the lever. Reassemble steering wheel with new black cowling.

Install VCS module into the MOST loop using proper Most joiners. You will need constant 12V power and a good earth. There will probably also be some re-wiring of the microphones but this depends on your actual car. Coding and then job is done

You need much longer optical fibre but only one piece. The one which reaches the UHI phone module (MOST) has to be split so that the IN fibre goes to the VCS unit. Then you need a rather long piece which travels the distance to complete the ring.

Junkyard VCS belongs in the junkyard. Wrong version.
