Hi All I want to fit some daytime lights to my 2006 B Class 2.0 cdi. Does any one know where I can get a live, in the engine compartment. The battery is under seat so to far away.
Many thanks.
Ian

I faced the same dilemma, when I fitted DRLs to my C169 - theoretically, you can get 15R from the screenwash pump (probably a few other places too), but in the end, I decided to do it properly and bring the signal from the front power socket fuse, as I needed extra wires for DRL controls anyway (on/off and 50% options, via a button I fitted in the power socket tray).

There's just enough space to feed a couple of wires through the bonnet release cable hole, which is behind the glovebox, on top of the SAM.

You can't just fit DRL's without the correct control unit. They have to either dim or extinguish when the vehicles side/head lights come on,you cannot run with them together with side/head lights..

I have a very nice set up on my CLK that I got from Probrite, they meet all the requirements and have been through three MOT's with no problems.

Yes I am aware of the requirements. I need the live for the control unit.

Wires coming into, and DRL controller in the engine bay:

That was done nearly five years ago.
I have since changed the actual DRLs (it's now dual-function fogs and indicators), but retained the controller I put together myself - still works perfectly fine.
I also removed the dimming option, so now my DRLs just turn off, once the dipped beam is on.

Here's the current DRLs in action (ignore the side lights - they are obviously not on during normal daytime run - I just used "follow me home" function to record the auto switching between turn indicators and DRL)
