OK, only my third car with leather trim the first being a Scirocco and the last being a Tigra but, the least said about the latter the better I suppose.

At the moment the seats and trim are a lovely shade of matt or even satin black and I accept that over the years and miles they will more than likely begin to take on a shiny or even glossy appearence but, is there any way of preventing this or if that does in fact become the case can you get back to the matt appearence if you want to?.

Right now they are no way in need of a clean in the true sense of the word and somehow I doubt that they will ever get what you might call really mucky but, what is the best way, and best products, to keep them healthy, crack free, and looking good (matt).

Still loving her :D !

This is prob not of much use to you Portzy but Twin Leather does not suffer from wear/tear as much as leather and is also considerably cheaper and looks identcial to leather (only way of telling differecne between the two is from the door card/trim BUT I'm NOT sure if you can get twin leather on rest of the MB models apart from W203...

Thanks Flash but its the SLK so its either velour'ish fabric or proper leather, thats all, not even a choice of the "artico" stuff which you can have in the W/CL 203 either which is man made.

i find if you just use the gliptone cleaner it leaves the leather like new, when you apply the conditioner"the leather smelling bottle"it leaves the leather looking waxing and with your cloths polishing it even more when getting in and out it looks greasy.
my opinion just apply the cleaner

the gliptone cream works great on nappa leather.

yes, it's a bit shiny at first but if you rub the leather with a clean cloth, the shininess disappears. it certainly goes after a while

BUT the best thing is the smell!

you really need to work the conditioner into the leather i.e. feed it, and then the matt finish will return.
If needs be wipe the residual off with a dry cloth.

I wouldn't advise just using the cleaner as you will have stripped the leather of any natural oils, which may make it appear matt, but could prompt cracking very quickly without any moisture in the hides.
