I believe Staithes garage in Dunston has a very good reputation.

Welcome aboard the MBClubUK Forum - although I must say from the start that we are obvious "enemies" looking at our respective user names !!
However - your second-rate football team apart - I would recommend a Garage called Main Road Garage in Sunderland - if you can bring yourself to spend money in our fair city.
John, who owns and runs the Garage, knows a huge amount about MB's as he used to work as a mechanic in the local dealership.
He's not afraid to tackle anything, has the diagnostics and won't rip you off.
I started off with my first Merc going to the MB dealership - right rip-off merchants IMO. Once the car got a bit older I started using John and he's been there for me for about 8 years. No probs.
I've just got myself a C270 CDI and may well use M-B just for the warranty cover for the next year or so, but will end up back at Main Road deffo in the future. I take my wife's car to him and a number of friends are now happy to use his place.
If you'd like the number, let me know and I'll get back to you and give you directions.
