Location of bolt key?

Anti-theft bolts were not standard, so there's no 'official' location. They are supplied in a small black plastic box - you'll normally find the key in this, along with the four standard bolts that were removed when the locking ones were fitted. It's typically left in the spare wheel well, but you may need to check other locations as mentioned above.

As above.

The locking bolts (supplied with a new car) are an official after-market MB accessory that is fitted by the dealer on cars sold in the UK. So the locking bolts are not fitted at the factory, and there's no 'official' location for them in the car. I find that mostly they are in the boot with the spare wheel (or space-saver, or TIREFIT kit), and sometimes they are left in the glove compartment, or on the front passenger seat (when buying a second hand car).

Is that standard practice now? Neither my Vito (new, with factory alloys) or SL (Approved Used) came with anti-theft bolts - I had to buy and fit them myself. I think the C Class (also Approved Used) did come with them though.

Might possibly apply only to private cars, not vans?

Could be, although it wouldn't make much sense as a high spec. Vito costs more than many MB cars (about the same as a fairly basic E Class).

It's thec same (or used to be) with Vauxhall. My Vauxhaull cars came with 4 bolts and one locking key, fitted by the dealer.

Did you buy the van through the same dealer/channel that sells passenger cars? Maybe the van sales are done by a different division?

Yes, "commercials" are handled by a different part of MB. So possibly different policies apply.
