My merc is exhibiting all the symptoms of a faulty mass airflow sensor, lack of power, limit of 3000 rpm etc etc

Can anyone tell me where the MAF sensor is actually located? I bought a Haynes manual hoping this would show it but no!

Thanks in advance

Simon

Have read that if you unplug the cable to the MAF and the fault goes then this will prove that the fault will have been the MAF.

Not necessarily. Just meter Pin 5 with respect to Gnd. Expect ~2v at idle rising to ~4.5v - 4.8v at full revs.

Thanks for info. I wasn't sure which sensor it was as there are 2 but the one in the main airflow is the MAF. Located part number (A 611 094 00 48 if anyone interested). New part ordered on Ebay - original MB spare! Note currently 10% discount if paid via Paypal.

Interestingly when I put old sensor back and went for test drive, I couldn't replicate the problem!!!! Maybe the classic "fresh air" treatment was all it needed. However when new part arrives I will use it hopefully insuring against these intermittent faults.
