Managed to get into cabin area with coathanger but cannot get through to the boot. Apart from ordering new key from MB has anyone got any ideas??

No boot release switch inside the car?

If you don't have a spare key , this sort of incident proves it well worth having one .

I only recently ordered a spare key for my W126 after only getting the one key when I bought the car - took 3 or 4 days to come , cost about £20 . Keys for W123/124/201 have been about £11.50 - don't know if there has been a recent price increase or if they figure S-Class owners can afford to pay more for basically the same key !

A CLK Key is going to set you back £150 ish :)

Unscrew rear number plate light using small phillips screwdriver, pull light and bulb out, bend wire coat hanger into small hook, insert into hole, hook over lock release wire, yank down, boot pops open ;) Good luck

Can you not get the rear seats down? I think last time I had this i removed the first aid storage box and then pulled the seat release from inside the boot..

* Pull down the rear armrest and if you have a ski bag you can use that to insert your arm and fumble around in the trunk (like a gloved vet) and get to the bag with the key. Or fumble around for the seat lock release.

Some cars have a straight golf-club pass-through. So there is just a hole there. Seeing as the seats are fold down you can probably punch out the plastic if you dont have a hole there.

* Def worth pressing the boot release button on the drivers door.

* Removing the light probably works.

* Smash the stop lamp and work your way into the rear

* Call for the spare

* Press the gear shift release and put it on a tow truck.

* W209 doesnt have a rear first aid kit near the woofer.

Use the boot release button on the centre console near the gearstick ?

Suggestions as above. Also, can you get to one of the pneumatic ocking vacuum lines, and suck or blow down the pipe to operate the central locking.

Will

Thanks for ur suggestions guys, got a new key today £200 gulp!! I needed it anyway.

Last thought came to mind. Actuate the open sequence with Star Diagnose.
