Thanks to Jimmy and George fraser.

Jimmy I got the CAT today  thanks.

Jimmy saved me £220 on an aftermarket CAT compared to a OEM MB one.

George Fraser charged me £25 to fit it!!!


The cat arrived well packaged. compared to the MB one the actual CAT BOX was alot smaller and the whole thing weighed less.

The original one had a higher build quality because the pipework was much thicker therefore reducing engine noise, it also had heatshielding which the aftermarket one did not. The actual pipework 'bends' on the aftermarket one had kinks on the bends, which is a cheap way to make a bend, the MB one did not have any bends.

I just hope the aftermarket one lasts longer than the OEM one did!!!

When I have my turbo fitted I will put heat shield around the pipework.

also the aftermarket one had to be bent a little bit to fit properly, apart from that it was quite easy.

George fraser also had a 1 year newer C class (C180), it had 1 pipe to the manifold and the couplings were much lower down!!

I could have changed the CAT myself if I had the 1 pipe version CAT.

My engine now sounds back to normal nice and sweet! I am also £220 more richer!!!

edit I am more than £220 richer as the stealers would have charged £100-150 for fitting!!!!

Hi Guys, i thought id add my 2 pence worth in

web sites nothing fancy, but i must admit service is great, they will get you any mercedes part massively cheaper than any dealers! and its all OEM.

so far ive bought the following off of them

air con condenser unit rrp was about £260, i paid £190 delivered
Avantguard grill £90 cant rem what rrp was
AMG door sills rrp £140 i paid £90
AMG mats for w202 rrp £70 i paid £45

i was scepticle at first as they ask for payment via cheque first, but now i have used them a few times, i know they are a good company to deal with!, they are based in manchester, and post everything down to me.

give them a go, they will save you money!

they are very helpful with loan cars etc -great service as well.

I take my car there for any non-service work that needs doing and then take my car in for a service at the local Merc dealer to get the proper stamp in the book.
