London to make Supercar Revving/Racing Illegal

On second thoughts, not sure if you viewed the videos posted a while back bit the cars are parked on both sides of Sloane Street on double yellows and obstructing traffic flow.

Still doubt that influential family influence would be what has prevented any action.

The CPS and courts have made prosecutions for unnecessary obstruction very difficult, wilful obstructions requires a uniformed constable to tell the offending driver to move their vehicle, twice, but more importantly, due to the target driven culture, without direction to do so, it is unlikely individual officers would act. Add into the mix, one of the clips was for "Kream Developments, a company specialising in bespoke car design, took over Knightsbridge by force to unveil their new Porsche 997 wide body!"; they MAY have had TFL approval (which the police are not necessarily party to) or there is the underlying fear of being criticised for not doing something more important with their time than deal with obstruction offences.

No idea why there were no wardens/enforcement officers…I suspect TFL involvement in that particular clip.

Looked like something in the engine bay was on fire. How does this guy get on the list for a La Ferrari, what a fool.

The driver should have been jailed for contempt for attempting to claim £400 per day in car hire fees. What about them ignoring the Police?

Two wrongs never make a right. However the Police need to get their act together and put a stop to this before somebody is killed.

you can enforce the no racing , but how they going to enforce revving your car ??

Difficult, they could make any customization of exhaust illegal as in many countries. This would at least limit the max noise and the tuner cars. It would still be difficult to enforce but it would give them a way to take a car of the street.

I love an echo-y street to drive down and hear nice sounding cars but I can imagine living with that constantly might start to wear - even for the 98%-proof petrol-head.

If they must, confiscate and sell and give the proceeds to the cops to spend on more beat officers...!

They will spend it on speed cameras.

As a car lover I do like the "accuracy" of the 4 litre V8 C63 AMG (no such car) and the two Porsches outside the Dorchester with Ferrari badges!

Accuracy isn't the forte of the Daily Mail though is it? It's a divisive rag!

Whilst the Daily Wail loves to use this as a way of making us all jump up and down about "bleedin' A-rabs" in my experience most of the noise and attendant bell end driving seems to be undertaken by people driving cars on UK plates. Usually a mix of Ali-G style gangstas who have graduated from the Mitsubaru scene to C63/M3s, monied chavs ( drug dealers, frozen food magnates etc) and monied folk who should know better.

That people drive on car cruises from way out of London to to do this "on Sloane" is beyond me when there are so many more enjoyable, and appropriate, places to go is beyond me.

I'm obviously getting old.

I think the particular sensitivity to the antics of young wealthy foreign supercar drivers is due to what many perceive as arrogance - their total indifference to any fines imposed on them (as documented in a recent TV program).

The reality is that the vast majority of young wealthy foreign supercar drivers around Kensington and Mayfair are nationals of various Gulf countries, but I doubt that the DM are deliberately targeting any ethnic group.

Also, this is a unique issue limited to a certain part of central London, involving foreign-registered 'exotic' supercars with list prices starting at quarter million and upwards (before ticking the personalised options list...) and differs from the relatively-mundane C63/M3 'boy racer' mentality prevalent in some other parts of the UK.

I was talking about Central London.

The Arab registered cars are conspicuous but they are by no means the majority any more.
