Looking for a disused airfield for hire...

Hi,

Friend of mine runs a driver training school.

Apart from anything else, the airfield we normally use for this is currently proving very tricky to secure (the owner has given another business first refusal which puts us in a tricky position as we are competing with him!).

So - would anyone know of a disused airfield, or better yet, have the contacts so we can make some enquiries ? Essex is best for this if possible. The business is fully insured, they are all ARDS trained, and normally its limited to 15 cars, with specific rules on noise and so forth.

PM me if you know of anything. If any members are interested in doing this let me know and we might be able to arrange an MB Club only day.

Have you been in contact with North weald airfield? we used to do our drift days over there and they already have driver training of one sort or another there, its only 10 mins from the M11 and easy to get to as well.

Hehe. That's the very airfield we try to use, but I believe the firm you use (I'm giving this info second hand btw) has the monopoly on it. I was looking for an alternative..

I believe there is a WWII airfiled near Bradwell Power Station. Don't know if you could gain access to it.

How about ringing a local flying club and see if they know of anywhere ? eg Earls Colne Airfield
