As title looking for a E55k / CLS55 / E63 / CLS63
Got 8 - 12k ish movement either way.
I have seen all the ones on the main stream.
Cheers
Paul

Good luck. I think only the E55 and possibly a CLS55 will come within your budget. Will be at least another £2 -3k more for an E63. CLS63 a big step up from £8-£12k.

Got any specific "must haves" as there is one member selling his well specced E55 although not advertised.

Yep - you won't get a decent E63 for £8-12k and no hope of a CLS63 - that's entry level to midrange E55 territory really, or bottom budget CLS55.

Are you looking for a nice/well cared for example or a really cheap/bargain type car? Need to tread carefully at this level as what you save upfront can get quickly eaten up in repairs.

How about a facelift E500/CLS500 5.5 if you're on a budget? :thumb:

I know a 63 would be streching it lol.
As best spec as i can get tbh , but would rather have a 'right' car with lower spec than a dog with good spec. If u know what i mean.
Black if poss but not the end of the world in another colour.
Cheers.

The member selling his 54plate E55 has a black one. Huge specification and possibly above your £12k figure.
Look for TDE1 member name.

Also, have you driven a 55k engine or a 63 to compare them? They are like chalk and cheese to drive in the power delivery.

Would rather have a s/c engine , the n/a ones are a bit slow lol.

My good friend Andy at Walkers Autotech has a CLS55 for sale at the moment. Mention Gareth at ACE sent you and he may look after you.

'63s are NA ;)

Also - the 5.5 '500s are more powerful than the older NA AMG V8s too for reference.

Could be an option if you want a tidy/well specced E or CLS on a budget.

Remember too that 'cheap' 211/219 AMGs will cost quite a lot to repair/maintain - what's your budget for maintenance like? :)

The 55k and '63 engine are fractions of a second apart on a 0-60. You have to rev the 63 engine to get the benefit of the power whereas the s/c engine has its power low down and has more torque. To me it seems faster, but in reality it isn't:dk:. Both are very rapid and are in a different league to a n/a 55.

I change my cars quite often and i have tried to get a E55k about 3/4 time now but never got one.
My budget for repairs is 'enough' i know what it is like to own / run / repair expensive cars as i had had quite a few -

S6 - V10
RS6
RS4
CLK55
M5
M3
GTR33
GTR32
V10 Touareg
V8 Monaro
Evo's
Sub 's
Sierra cosworth.
Supra Turbo

Just a few what come to mind. lol

Some great cares there. I'm in the same boat
with the 55k ;)

Kinell all my favourite cars , althoug you haven't
Owned my top 2 , Delta integrale and Ur Quattro
Oh and Audi RS2 .

Thanks m8 , I forgot my last car lol , the most famous one too, A Lotus Carlton :cool:

And those really aren't cheap to run. I've seen more than one abandoned at a Vauxhall dealer who specialised in LCs because the owner couldn't pay the bill, and that was back in the 90s when they were relatively new

I know , and trying to get parts is a nightmare. Then when you do find parts they have the 'Lotus Carlton tax' put on them , which meant they can charge what they want lol.

I have had an S2 Audi quattro 20v , A coupe is on my to do list , not a lancial tho , great cars just dont fancy one.

Remember back in the 90's I thought I was the dogs with my Saph Cossie, until some local got a LC and would delight in blowing my doors off every time he caught me out in the open.

I felt like a celebrity driving it , every day someone would stop me to talk or comment on the car.

Here is a pic of it when i had it detailed

Thanks for sharing a lovely trip down memory lane.

If you end up with an E55k you won't be disappointed, they are a delight to own.

I recommend you contact Tim as mentioned in the thread about his car. Its well loved, black, super spec and most importantly a sorted example.
