Looking for a gear shifter auto

Hello ......
I am looking for a gear selector for my clk 230 convert able 2002 model. I think it's a w208 and is part auto part automatic gear selector.
Looking for new one as mine is goosed.
Can anyone help ?

Just got a quote from mb for the selector wait for it ........ £380 not inc. VAT :-(
It looks like a 20 min changeover from one selector to another.
Still making my mind up or I could get a second hand one from £60 just to get the car going for now.

I've a W209 convertable and I'm not sure that a second hand one works as I've just changed mine and the steering wheel buttons dont work!

I know the EPC says that they are security coded and the registration is needed when ordering new but I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with STAR coding so that all the functions work and that is why the registration is required.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeble will educate us but I thought I should post this until someone gives us more information!

I think you might be right as I am getting the same thing with the second hand box. Hope fully some one in the wealth of no how within the mb forums can help .
