Hiya I`m a newbie here,
I presently looking round for a AMG E55.
Test drove only 1 so far - big grin on my face afterwoods
Could anybody please enlighten me of any thing I should watch out for when purchasing one. Or what is the best year to look for bearing in mind a budget of circa 25K.
Hope full of making the neighbours jelous soon ;)

Many thanks

I saw a really nice purple E55 go on Autotrader recently for about £19,000.

Really, really nice car the E55, and I think at least 1 forum member has one :) I would like one, but need to get married first...

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

You think you will be able to spend £20k on a car after you get married? Lol, maybe 20 years after! :D

dazle, my mate had one for years and it was fantastic. Reliability great, performance great, space great. I'll stop there and simply say everything was great about it ;)

So just why did I get a CLK then?

One of the things to look out for is the several pounds of flesh which will be removed by your insurance company when you try and insure it.

I also wanted to buy an E55 but bought an E430 instead - only about 50 BHP less but saved £750 on the insurance, why not get a quote and post it on the forum, I could do with some cheering up...

Well, if I got a white one, I suppose it could double up as the wedding car. This would save the cost of hiring a limo and would probably justify buying one :D

Besides, I would rather arrive at my own wedding in an E55 than a Lincoln Town Car anyday.

Well, I can dream can't I?...

Awesome car - but beware.............

I have had 2 clients who have had E55.

Both suffered HUGE depreciation (but they did buy new). Both loved the car.

One sold for a new SL, and the other now has an ML55.

Both were a little concerned about economy, and how E55 drinks it. But that didn't stop them movong on to equally thirsty cars. If you are doing a big mileage you may want to think again.

Arguably going to become dated against the new shaped E55 - and will always be a specialist market when you come to Part Exch or sell later in life - the more specialist, the more reluctant that Joe Public will buy unless the car is mint in every way. E55 with 100k on the clock? Buyer beware.

As a second hand option, FSH and warranty a must and some repair bills could be crippling.

Like I say, awesome car, but beware.

Marc
