Does anyone know of a garage or specialist who can diagnose problems with the engines or read the computer?

Thanks!

I've never encountered an AMG specialist, anywhere. I'm sure somebody will be along soon who can recommend a Mercedes specialist in the area though.

Try Derrick Wells.

He is between Stowmarket and Needham Market.

He is the only Indy the area that I know has Mercedes background. My folks got their C Class fixed by him in 20mins after having been in a dealership for 4 days with no issue found.

Where are you? There are places in Wellingborough and Peterborough and Rushden.

I think there is also a Merc specialist near attleborough - although if you're only after a computer read you're probably just as well going to Robinsons (can't cost THAT much for a quick scan can it???) or asking on here for a diagnosis (worked much better than the dealers for me!)

Just south of Cambridge, I'm willing to travel if I can find someone I trust!

Well all three places have good Indies......all of whom you can trust.....the Wellingborough guys are good (Parkham Garage) but if you'd prefer P'borough or Rushden let me know and I'll dig out the details. All are good.

Do Parkham in Wellingborough have STAR diagnostics and does anyone know what their hourly rate is?

They have a diagnostic machine...not sure of labour....give Paul a ring

I trust them with my two SL's....I've also seen SL600's an SL55's in there. Also lots of Merc taxi's, 124's and 202's

Don't think you can go wrong with them.

Thanks, just tried to ring but no answer. Maybe they open at nine.

How come you don't take your ML there too?

Because I bought new in 05 & I think it's sensible, at that age, to keep in in the dealer network.

Yep, makes sense.

Just spoke to Paul. I'm booked in for Saturday.
Will let you know how i get on.

Took my W220 in today.
Got to say that it's all good here. :bannana:

I'm amazed at how "straight forward" Paul was with all of my many questions. I'm not used to that!! I'm used to talking to dealers where the response to my questions is usually a sharp intake of breath followed by the words, "Yes we can do that mr. shr but it will be complicated/time consuming/expensive!!" (You get my drift.)

Anyway, Paul clearly knows his stuff (and he's only a young bloke) and his attitude/approach is just the sort of thing I'd hoped for (you don't get that very much nowadays.) It's about a 40 minute drive each way for me but after todays visit I think it is well worth it.

I will certainly being using Parkham Garages again in the future. :bannana:

Thanks, IanAlexander2 for introducing me to these guys and recommending them. It's vital us forum members share our garage experiences, good and bad.

Cheers.

I'm glad you found them useful.....I certainly do. Paul is a thoughtful and experienced guy who delivers at a reasonable rate. He is actually interested in getting your baby moving in the best way.
