Hi Everyone

I've just moved to Bridgwater in Somerset and now work in Bristol.

Anyone have any recommendations for an indie in the area.

I have a w211 e280 cdi and it will need some work done.

Many thanks.

I like dealing with Ben at Parkway, my kind of garage, not a plate glass window or potted palm tree in sight . The first time I went there he had 2 old plastic garden chairs outside his 'office' if you felt the need to sit down :) . Has built a bit of a waiting area since.

Not sure if you have visited yet but Parkway is a 'no frills' type of establishment and (by his own admission) the courtesy cars are ,errr 'well used' But I can not fault any of his work , the two 'big' jobs being fixing the oil leak in the middle of the V on my AMG and the (precautionary) replacement of the rear crank seal . Pricing £ was more than acceptable .

I hope you have the same good experience :thumb:

P.S Tell him Pete with the Silver C55 AMG Estate sent you ...there might be two Pete's with Silver C55 AMG estates on his books , but I doubt it .

I will be sure to tell that you sent me.

I'm not after a posh garage just a reliable service that can be trusted.

Reasonable prices are a bonus.

Thanks again

How did it go at Parkway ? ..Be honest :D

Really good and I mentioned yourself. Turns out your the only Pete with a silver c55 AMG estate at Parkway. 😂😂😂

Ben did the loose rattling heat shield (for lack of a better word), the gearbox service, a rear coil and the car was given a full going over and pre MOT.

All in was £500 quid which was discounted as there was extra man hour required. I was well happy

The car is going back for an MOT in june along with investigations into folding mirror not working, aircon not staying on (red aircon light flashes then goes out) and the parking sensors which seem to work intermittently on front but not at all at the back.

The red ceiling lights are on and the system beeps but clearly some issues as rear dont beep at all.

Also looking for a good Mercedes independent specialist in Bristol or South Gloucestershire/Gloucestershire and in my case, one who is knowledgeable about the ABC systems and electronics on these highly advanced cars for their time and who are happy to use some remanufactured or second hand parts as some are very expensive on my 2002 CL55.

Some good suggestions here and I will certainly have a closer look at Parkway. I did previously view Advantgarde Automotive's website and it looked to me as they would only use Mercedes parts, so that might rule them out.

Has anyone used either of these garages in Bristol:

BG Griffiths

OR

BS3 Ltd

Thanks

Pete

Hi
It still worth giving Avantgarde a call & have a conversation. I am sure they will be able to help

Hi Pete,

Just saw your thread on here, I'm not sure if you got in touch this week.

We are happy to use aftermarket parts in places where the quality isn't compromised. If we feel the option to use non-gen parts is the wrong one, we will tell you and give our reasons why.

If you have any questions give us a call.

Steve

Hi Steve

That sounds sensible and reasonable, but as we all know with our CLs, some of the original Mercedes parts are mind bogglingly expensive, take a strut for example, ludicrous especially when you will have to replace both which I have just done.

I picked up my CL55 yesterday and so will be in touch in the next few weeks as would be good to arrange to pop in and see you if that's ok as I do want someone more local, Clevedon isn't too bad for me as I can jump straight on the M5.

Best regards

Pete

I've used BG Griffiths for my C63 and I'll be using him again. Did an excellent job and totally honest / sensible about work that does or doesn't need to be done.

Thanks Jason, really appreciated, I have caught up with Rob at BG Griffiths and will be popping in to see him soon to have a chat.
