Whilst cleaning the carpets I found the service manual for my car which had gotten itself wedged under the floor mat on the passenger side. It's quite interesting, has a German PDI on 10th Sept '90. It then has a stamp from Portmann Ltd in Manchester at 1079 miles. Then there's a stamp for Puttocks in Guildford at 3301 miles 14 months later. 8 months later it's serviced in Southend on Sea at 8027 miles by SMAC where it is serviced the following year, and then on to London Rd Garage in Romford in 94/95/96 and 34K miles. When Cranbrook Carriages in Ilford took over up to 2003 when it had done 69K miles. I guess it may have been around then that the service booklet got "lost" but the car has been looked after so I guess servicing still took place regularly. So I then decided to find out who owned the car first or where it was sold etc and I took a peek at the following site; Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN and entered the VIN.
I found out the following;

570 is confusing, I have a front arm rest but no front box but do they mean glove box or the box/arm rest at the front that some cars have? And why repeat the info?
Dealer; Company Vehicle mean? Anyone know about VINs? Was it used by Mercedes as a company vehicle?
Any answers to the above would be helpful but I was facinated by how much info the VIN held and more than made up about finding the servicing booklet, shows it's a genuine car that and all the MOT's I have from the first one plus a few bills for various small jobs and spares! Turns out it's a very genuine example, which I bought more or less sight unseen.
Anyone else? Put in your vin and post up the results, (don't forget to obscure your vin).
