Mercedes E55K
Hi

I am new on here but intend to purchase an E55k. One that I am viewing tomorrow has the engine light on and the seller, whom I spoke to on the phone, states that it's apparently due to a remap and de-limit.

I find this hard to believe but happy to be corrected. If I do go and view what should I be looking for? It seems in very good condition.

Thanks

If due to remap, can the seller not get it reset??
Otherwise it is a significant risk which may or may not cost a lot to get sorted if it is not due to the remap

The seller got it reset at Mercedes however it came back 2 days later. Doesn't sound like re-map if this is the case?

As you say I am worried this could cost a fortune to fix if something sinister were wrong.

Could be anything, full cat delete (catalyst efficiency fault) sensor/air pump failure etc take it as a fault with the car and factor into the final price you offer if you go ahead.

Get it on a star at an indi, this way you can be 100%

Thanks for the advice chaps. If it's good in all other aspects I will factor this into my offer. Do you think £500 will cover me to an extent?

I would look for another vehicle, one issue could lead to another.

These cars are not cheap to fix.
