Looking to buy my first mercedes but.

They both have the same m282 engine - just one tuned to have slightly more power. It may be something you could upgrade (tune) on an a180. It depends on where you drive most often, I found the a180 fine on our local roads, but slightly gutless on motorways maybe. When we were looking it was hard to find a well specked a 180, but they were quite new at the time.
it would be mainly local roads and the occasional motorway / dual carriage way but just want something that will be fine for local as most cars will be but also something can can carry its weight for long distances. nothing too crazy needed but a decent pull

Maybe safer with an a200 - but as I’ve said go to a Mercedes dealer - drive them both and then decide.
okay thanks, the ones ive seen are 1.3l even the a200. I tested one today and it was fine, maybe lacked a bit of pull, so thinking to test the 2l one. the 1.3 was fine for local and a bit of dual carriage way driving but some places lacked a bit of umph. But its not a sports edition so not expecting it to race. Will test the 2L to see altho just thinking about insurance / petrol costs to fill that up
