right iam loosing quite a bit of water for some reason topping the water up daily  on my 1990 230te

thire is no mayo on the dip stick, oil cap, auto box, coolant resouvoir and no white smoke other than first start but then only small amount

their seems to be some crystals on top of a plastic part where top radiator pipe goes near the engine but not noticed water comming out (might be thermostat housing)

their seems to be a slight drip under the car when running but could be from where i filled the reservoir up

car doesnt over heat running temp is bang on 80 when doing 50+ mph and climbs to above the top line befor the fan kicks in at stand still then drops back down

i am hoping not head gasket failure as previous car done this 3 weeks ago :crazy::(:(

any normal places to leak ?

Could be thermostat housing leaking-- they can split- later cars had metal replacements. Or it could be the water pump. Either way best to get sorted ASAP since complete failure will result in large volume coolant loss immobilising the car. When replacing coolant remember it should be 50/50 antifreeze / water to prevent corrosion of water passages/radiator etc.

yes it seems to be the housing as their is water seaping out of it
