Hello folks, can anyone confirm my diagnosis... think i have a head gasket away!

I have a 91 190D the 2L manual version, its been a great car to me, done about 30k miles this year alone.

Lately it has been losing water, the warning light started coming on a few weeks ago. I kept topping it up but when I was on a long journey back from Aberdeen the other week I could smell that it was overheating and I started to lose any heat coming from the heater with it turned up full blast... although the temp gauge didnt rise, even after I stopped which I thought was strange. It took about a litre and a half of water after it had cooled.

There is no milky residue in the oil and no signs of oil in the water. I topped up the water and let it tick over for 20min but the water started to come out from the overflow pipe. Got the garage to do a pressure test on the water system and there was no leaks.

Thinking there was maybe a break in the head gasket between the water and the exhaust side they used a tin of wonder-weld on it but Im still losing water.

Anyone out there know what the fault might be? Thanks in advance.

By the way if its a head gasket Im guessing that I might need to get the head skimmed so could be quite costly?
The car is probably not even worth a grand but would be a shame to scrap it.

Dodgy waterpump, stuck thermostat, blocked radiator. If the pressure test was ok, I dont think it's the headgasket.,
