Lost Premium features on my E220d ,W213

Hi guys

I have an E220d (19) and recently I had an issue with my media player and this stopped working “ device unavailable “
After a while the media player started itself without me touching anything but when I realised I lost the premium package features like :
3D camera , parking ,DAB radio literally all premium features

My car is at the dealership now they trying to fix this but they saying that cannot be done (!)
Anyone experienced this issue or fault ?
I’m trying to have an idea what can be the fault taking in consideration the fact that is still in warranty

To clarify - the dealer is telling you that there's a fault they can't fix, on a car that's under warranty?

If this is true, then there's a case here to insist that MB UK buy the car back from you... though I doubt it'll get to that.

Are they considering replacing the COMAND unit under warranty?

What happened exactly? I’ve heard stories of people trying to access ‘engineering mode’ and basically resetting the car to a point where it is unusable - everything then needs to be coded back by an MB tech with the right kit/knowledge. Not saying that is what has happened here but given the sudden ‘loss’ of multiple features from DAB to camera it just sounds like a software/coding issue as it seems unlikely that the DAB aerial and the cameras would fail at the same time.

I told them that I will take my car doesn’t matter if it’s fixed or not and obviously if it’s not fixed I’ll start proceed and make a complaint and solve the issue by asking them to replace the car
Mentioned here that the car from new this is the 15 th time to be at the dealer with different problems and they actually need to accept that the car is bad production

I’m sure that is a software glitch and this can be solved by updating the software with the manufacturer software admin rights as I read in other threads , but what they trying to do I think it’s just a usual dealer rights update which is not enough

If, and it is by no means certain they did replace the car then it may be one of equivalent age and possibly not the same specification.

Did you pay for it via a credit agreement or lease?

True to be honest
But this happened to me after I took the car from other dealer after few days so I think they “ did “ something which is not quite ok and that’s why I think is a software issue
Let’s see what they going to do by Monday
Don’t think to be honest that they can fix my car without having propper specialists

Document every fault, the dealer who fixed or attempted to fix it each time.

How long you have been without your car etc.

If bought via some sort of credit agreement then you have more leverage. Even if you paid the deposit or part (over £500) via a credit card then you have other legal avenues open to you
 
Well I can see a problem with MB replacing the command unit,because as you will know nobody gets a car with parking aids working,so if it is a new command I would suspect that would be disabled,but I am no expert with command,if you have used the same dealer for 15 faults on the car and this is another one then as posted I would think they should replace it.

My car is a premium package E with nice specs and was really helpful for me to have my car working perfectly from the beginning
However even the car was bought with finance and part exchange with another old E that was nice to have it
Of course since the problems started …
First :blind spot assist , second noises from inside ( squeaking !) still there ….
Oil sensor , speed sensor , clicking sound In dashboard ( still there ) battery issue last winter ( still didn’t fixed )
And on top of this now the media player has gone with radio (! Radio working but not the DAB ) and all features which’s cost me more than 7 grand has gone
Is this a Mercedes or what the heal is it !
Not happy guys ! Maybe they should not manufacture the parts in China

Thank you but I am quite capable of comprehending the nuances of differnt posts.

I was clearly stating that the OP had not used the engineering mode.

The fact that all work has been carried out by Mercedes dealers places the responsibility squarely with Mercedes to ascertain and fix the fault or faults.

If that’s the point you wanted to make clear to myself, specifically, did you just not notice that as per my first post in this thread, I, very specifically, was clearly not suggesting that the OP did enter or attempt to enter engineering mode?

Life’s short indeed, so I don’t choose to deliberately make highly ignorant assumptions and hurl poorly crafted insults at people with my keyboard then ignore them. But frankly if it means you no longer feel compelled to engage with my posts on this platform it’s probably healthier - and if you somehow find a way to read this I do sincerely wish you peace and happiness.

Update on my issue with the premium package lost :
Luckily they fixed it free of charge while my car is under warranty
The fault part was the central computer unit which was giving me problems
Now it’s working like a charm again

I hope that they could find the issue 6 months ago when I reported this to Merc Benz ,would probably save me a lot of time and stress
Anyway at least has been done now
