driving back on the motorway on monday when it was hot it was too much wind noise to have windows or sunroof open. when i turned the blower up to II it seemed to be making alot of noise but not much extra air was coming out no matter where it was directed.

is there a pollen filter on W124s? if so where is it located so i can yank it out as it must be blocked up and i dont suffer from hayfever.

The pollen filter is in the engine compartment under the jump wiper assembly. When you remove the top of the fan box the filter is in two parts directly above the fan

yeah saw that. might just run without filter. alot of cars dont have a filter and i dont suffer with hayfever and it should help overall airflow. is this a good idea of will i look like i have been working in the mines after a journey with all the dust it will chuck at me.

you could certainly take it out and see if it solves the problem. i dont know if its a good idea long term though; i'd probably be inclined to have it there.

Nick, how do you mean under the wiper assembly? does the wiper need to be removed to get to it? directly before the wiper is a rain water drain with leaf catching grill protecting it.

yes its under the assembly and behind the drain (i had to remove the drains but not the wiper assembly to get at mine IIRC). Girlfriends car does not have the "runners" where the filters go so do check you have the ability to mount the filters at all before you go buying them.
