I can hear the fuel pump when it primes for a few seconds
But I can also hear it quite loudly when I am stationary at traffic lights etc
and as I am driving

is it under a panel ? not sure how I will get to it
Jack with axel stands ? then remove the cover ?

Many thanks

Paul

Yes, just in front of the o/s rear wheel.

Have you got ramps?

no but I could use a jack and axel stands

I could get some ramps though they would be useful . Are the standard halfords ramps ok?

So long as they're about 2 tonnes or above (the more the better) they'll be fine.

If you're driving up the ramps alone, get long ones, they're easier. Also get some chocks for the rear wheels so you don't drive off the end of them :D

Its best to drive up with someone watching though.

took the panel off and the petrol pump and filter looked very secure.
The noise is quite loud

Was the pump vibrating and should it have any rubber insulation round it?

it was connected to the car well and rubber mountings are used in that connection

it wasnt vibrating. I didnt see any rubber insulation around it though

its gone quiet now. since I filled it more than half full of petrol ??
