Hi Guys
I have used the car forum quite a lot and some real helpful guys on there but this is the first time on this part of the forum.
My problem is very bad download of picture quality in Internet explorer but the pictures are fine in Firefox, this has been bugging me now for a long time I even changed my video card and monitor thinking that was the problem.
Anyway here is a picture of the problem I am getting any help would be great.

Norman

Download the picture above directly to your PC (right click, save picture as), then use Windows preview / slide show / photo editor to view it. Does it look OK then? If not then it's the image file itself ... or something is happening to it when you upload to Photobucket.

Is that a photo of your screen with you viewing a picture? I don't understand what you are describing?

Can you do an actual print screen instead?

If the above doesnt ring any bells, try this

Open regedit

go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>InternetExplorer>Main>UseHR

If it is set to 0 then try changing it to 1

Hi Both
That is the problem if I put the photo into another programme it looses the pattern I have showing so you are correct that is a digi shot of my screen.

I tried to email a bad picture to a computer tech but when he received it the picture was perfect so I agree it is when it is being downloaded from IE that the problem arises .

I have been building and repairing computers for 10 years now and I have never come across a problem like this and I know it is something wrong with IE.download but I don't know what I just wondered if any other member has had the same.

When you go into GOOGLE there are a lot of picture problems since IE went to version7.
Norman

I'm guessing you have downloaded and reinstalled IE. Is it all pictures? How does a web page look?

Hi Sp!ke
Nice car mate you should be proud of that (I expect you are though).
My settings were on 1 so thought ok lets try 0 but no change what I can't understand is it does not happen all the time, I have just gone on Ebay and 9 out of ten of the pics are fine and then looked at the last one and back to lousy picture.
That picture that I have put on the forum was from last week.

Hi Bill
Done as you said and picture is ok, the picture was downloaded into photo bucket as you see it because if I load it into photobucket from the wed site it shows up fine.
I know this is probably not making much sense to all you people trying to help because I have been trying to find the fix for a while let me try and help you a bit more.

That picture you see is from Ebay downloaded with IE if I try copy and paste into another programme in save as the picture is fine, what I have done in ebay is watch this item now if I open Firefox and look at the auction it is perfect.

GOOD INNIT IT ?

Hi Pammy
This is how weird it gets your car is showing the pattern all over it the others are perfect.
Norman

Is it only pictures hosted on photobucket then?

No because I am always looking at the guys cars on the forum which they have uploaded from Photobucket and they are all fine.
This problem gets weirder by the day.

Thanks for all your help folks

I am just going to have to live with it for now I will use Firefox all the time and forget IE. I downloaded V.7 but is still the same.
Triple scan for viruses and none found so I am going out for a lemonade now followed by six pints of Courage best.:D:confused:

Don't panic!
Not a virus!
What type of screen are you using and if it's flat what is it's native resolution?
Are you using a branded PC (like Dell)?

Edit: Although after 6 pints of Best perhaps we should look at cureing blurry images tomorrow ;)

Hi masqueraid
I am using brand new CTX 17" LCD Monitor and I have tried all different resolutions but does not make any difference, I have tried 2 other monitors with same result.
Computer is home built by me.
AMD 2800+ Cpu
Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394 Motherboard.
ATI Radeon 9250 128mb GDDR Graphics card (but have tried 2 different cards and problem is still there)
Over 1 Gig of memory.
It can't be my computer because as I said earlier it is only happening when I use I.E when I use FIREFOX the problem has gone but what annoys me is it is a random problem if it was happening all the time I would be in with a chance of sorting it.

Sounds like it is just a problem with the one browser and I suspect with your display DPI.

1) Just changing the way images are handled in Internet Explorer (IE)
In, IE go to Tools menu > Internet Options > Advanced tab.
Uncheck "Smart image dithering". Click OK.

If you use MSN there are other settings you can adjust.

2) Altering global display settings
The most likely fix would be to lower the dpi to the standard 96, the images and fonts should become clear again. this is done by right clicking anywhere on the desktop>properties>settings>advanced>general
and then you set the dpi to 96. however, the drawback is that everything on your computer will display smaller (including the text).

Hi masqueraid
Did as you advised but still no change this is getting silly isn't it.
Cheers Mate
Norman:confused::confused:

I can't help thinking the problem rests with your set-up\computer as no one else appears to be suffering a similar problem?

Good luck resolving this issue.

Regards
John

Norman, can you post another screenshot of the problem plus a couple of links to images on the web (one that displays OK and one that is affected)
Your photobucket account is (sensibly) password protected so I can't see your current example.
