looks delightful

if i had three or four of these w124 estates would that be a touch excessive?

i really like that red

Nice, wonder what the price will be?

From my 1994 manual:-
90kph / 56mph / 31.5mpg
120kph / 75mph / 26.0mpg
urban / 18.7mpg
euro mix / 24.2mpg
All for s124 e320 with 5sp auto.
I would love a more highly specced estate but the ability to get 40+ mpg on long runs and 30mpg on school runs in london traffic means that I will stick with my diesel.
s124 e320 5sp auto 275 litres 1,925 miles to moscow at 60mph (£7.5k car)
s124 e300 4sp auto 220 litres 1,925 miles to moscow at 60mph (£2.5k car) +55 litres
w202 c230k 5sp auto 250 litres 1,925 miles to moscow at 70mph (£0.5k car) + 25 litres
w203 c220cdi 5sp auto 175 litres 1,925 miles to moscow at 60mph (10.0k car) estimated + 100 litres
w204 c220cdi 7sp auto 150 litres 1,925 miles to moscow at 60mph (20.0k car) estimated + 125 litres
I'm not knocking the advertised car (I bought my s124 from NF) but I'm happy where I am at.

Has anyone fitted a turbo diesel from a 210 into a w124 or is that a daft question. Diesel conversions of coupes seem fairly common but using the 12 or 24v naturally aspirated version of the 3 litre engine.

From what I remember Wes the position of the"steering box" on RHD cars make it just about darn impossible to do this.

To get the lovely smooth 210 engine like performance that I envy I would have to buy a 210 (Faints clean away)

Edit.

This one looks OK. But it s the old tin worm on the underpinnings which savages these.

thanks but rhe 210 is never likely to be on my shopping list unless a w124 front end could be grafted on, I know its been done the other way round

yeah the performance is much greater on a 210 but you cant beat the wafting nature of the non turbo w124 300 606 engine..... so smooth, quiet. my MIL has a 2007 volvo diesel and it sounds like a tractor compared to the green OM606. the silver OM606 i have is louder but needs some new engine mounts and exhaust.

w124 OM606 can be wound up to make nice progress - not as slow as people always bang on about.
