Hiya,,,,
just thought i put a few words down re our new arrival,,,,,
After many years of owning front engined Porsches except for a two year "sabbatical" with a mint 2003 SL,,,
Our SL performed faultlessly but i found it too large just my personal view,,,,,
Love the transaxle Porsches and a regular Porsche forum user and ex club member albeit not for the last few years but things are quite different now compared to 7 or 8 years ago,,,,,,,
We had been watching clk55s for a few months prior to selling the Porsche and managed to get a gorgeous Black droptop with black leather with merlot/cranberry leather inserts,og chromed alloys,,bose, distronic, etc,,made sure the car didnt have keyless go and car has a great history with reciepts,,,90k miles,,a B service just a 1k miles ago and hpi clear with a great mot history,, and book pack,,,,,,
We are so very happy with the clk,,,,drives "normally" until all breaks loose when you floor it,,
Our daily is a mk5 r32, owned for over 5 years with low 70k miles but cannot compare to the clk when you bury the throttle,,,,,
Pace is incredible and i know now, this is the model i should have purchased instead of the SL,,,,,
Things for the future include fitting an x pipe and removing the tints in the front windows but leaving the back windows tinted and fitting some sort of bluetooth to work in the aux port in the glove box,,
At 54 years old i still havent a clue when it comes to spannering and problems with our cars and its straight to the specialists although i can self diagnose "little" things lol so please forgive my ignorence if i ask very rudimentary questions,,
i just need to concentrate on avoiding speed cameras or/and getting points on a clean license lol..
Hope to go to any future meets,,
We live in Woodford Green,,Essex but its really NE London,,,,,
Thanks for reading,,,,,,,
cheers jasonp

Great cars Jason...I had a 2005 black 55 Cab a few years ago... defo do the exhaust it opens them up to how they should have been from the factory.... post up some pics too....

jasonp seems familiar, think I've seen you on the PCGB forum! We saw a really lovely red CLK55 a couple of years ago, even wife loved it, but it won't fit our garage. In time I'll follow you from FE Porsche to MB toy, but it will have to be an SLK, nothing else will fit my small garage. Then we'll be all MB, as the daily is the S204 C220 we've had for 6 years now and love to bits.

Thanks bald guy
Chris,,yes it’s jasonp
You will love the SLK55,,
Dinky as hell but a rocket with all the nice bits,,
We were considering one before our puppy came hone and we would have bought one were it not for the puppy and it will fit in your garage very easily,,,
They are so quick and sound great just seemed a great all round car imho,,
Cheers jasonp

Hi Jason, welcome to a really good MB forum. I'm also on MBOA, AKA t'other side, not quite as active these days as this forum but a good source of MB info especially old posts from a now deceased member posting as Television who managed to get himself banned on here! Particularly good for anything electrical as well as stuff like ABC (which I don't think your CLK has, be thankful!).

SLK55 would be my first choice - never had a V8, only a V6, but SWMBO had a canary when I told her the power etc., so I'll be limited to a 350 when the time comes, will probably have to be 2009 onwards as I want airscarf as well as some other toys, but thankfully we can still (just) get in and out of the 968 cab, so the change is possibly a year or two away as we love the 968 cab. I'm still annoyed that an SL is a foot too long for my garage, got really tempted a year or so back by a beautiful SL55 until I checked the dimensions :(:(:(:(

Did you see that Waylander bought an SLK320 for his wife? He describes it as a rocket ship, roller skate with 250+BHP! Having seen him disappear into the distance in his 968, the 320 must be quick! I've seen the car, and can't believe he paid pennies over £2k for it!

Sounds a nice car and good spec too.

I looked everywhere for a CLK55 convertible earlier this year but couldn't find one at a sensible price - maybe because the big round thing in the sky was out nearly everyday. Settled for a 280 (3.0) Sport convertible. Nice enough car that sounds good on cold start up but I prefer the noise V8's make.

I think there such a great value money for cars and can seat 4 when/if needed, not bad on fuel and can have great spec. If you haven't got a wind deflector then get one - they make a massive difference. As for the exhaust. Do it. I think they're way too quiet for V8's. I recently had an x pipe fitted on my CLS and it's so much better and IMO, how it should be from the factory.

Happy motoring

Another here from the pcgb forum. The NA m113 engines are great- even better with a s/c strapped to them :)
Can't see why you wouldn't love it. The 944 lags behind a little even with a few mods.

Welcome to the forum. Love the CLK's, one of the nicest body shapes IMO, especially the coupe.

:ttiuwp

Thanks for the kind words,,
i get some pics took and add them in the morning especially now its had a nice valet,,,,,,jasonp
