Just when I was thinking to myself yesterday that the car was running well it started to mis-behave this morning.

The first symptom was the engine turning over for longer than usual before firing, the starter was not labouring and the battery is fine, it just took a couple of seconds to fire.

One started all seemed fine until I went to pull away from a traffic island when it felt as if it was going to stall, this happened a few minutes later and although this has not happened since then the initial throttle response is not as crisp as normal. Also, I noticed that gear changes were initially a little hesitant.

Revving in neutral shows a slight mis-fire / hesitation at around 1200-1400 rpm but then it smooths out. No faults or warning lights are displayed.

I know a Star diagnostic is best but that is not possible until Friday at the earliest. My suspicion is a MAF issue, is there a way to test voltages at the MAF and if so where does one test and what range is normal?

Thanks.

I may be wrong!!!

You could try and disconnect the MAF. This will force the engine to a default setting. If the behaviour you see changes that would point to the MAF being faulty.

Also spraying damp start along your hoses while the engine is running is a good way of finding any leaks.

The low speed mis-fire is no longer apparent but the the lack of initial throttle response is still there, if I push the pedal further and harder than usual when pulling away the car moves normally although of course rather smartly!

I am assuming OBD II will not help with diagnostics?
