Car
soon (maybe) a c300h
Hello,

I have been looking at a C300h (W205) first registered in December 2016. The car is still under manufacturing warranty.

I have just learnt from the dealer (not Mercedes) selling the car that their workshop noticed the lower bush arms needed replacing. So they sent the car to Mercedes to be replaced under warranty. The car has 70,000 miles.

I have not seen the car yet (just the advert). I am surprised that such part need to be replaced.

What are the MB gurus think ? Is that a genuine fault or should I think the dealer is hiding something and delaying my visit.

Thanks

I would say with the state of our roads and all the traffic calming everywhere (those bastard "cushions" especially) its eminently feasible that the lower bushes need attention.

Thanks @blademansw
I have 137000 miles on my insignia and they have never needed to be replaced. I do find it strange that on a more premium car they need to be replaced so soon. This makes me wonder what the previous owner has done with the car. Or maybe it is me being to paranoid.....

Could be down to driving too fast for the speed bumps or the extra weight of the batteries.

Speaking of which does the hybrid battery warranty not run out at 60-something thousand miles?

It seems to be a common C Class thing. On my W203 the bushes where noted as delaminating at around 40K miles / 3yrs old and changed, At about 85K, but many more years, they were going again and that time the whole arms were changed as the ball joints were also worn. The car is pretty well only used for occasional long motorway trips.

One needed replacing on ours a couple of months ago (came up at MoT time), which was done under warranty. I too was surprised it needed doing and surprised/disappointed it wasn't picked up during its annual service, but that's another story I guess. The car has done less than 40k miles.

Hello @GeeJayW thanks for sharing your experience.
I guess things happened sometimes.
I finally bought the car yesterday and drove 150m already. All good so far :)
