Hello All,
Could somebody tell me if slight movement on my front lower suspension arms is excessive.
Do Mercedes have a zero movement policy.

Thanks.

If it’s not affecting anything , see what your next MOT or service says ?

Does it clunk when heavy braking?

Hi, thanks for the replies.
I took my car to Mercedes Stockport for its annual service.
They told me that the front lower suspension arms had excessive ware and would replace them at the cost of £890.
I decided to take it to Delanys that would do them for £425.
When they inspected ready to fit they phoned me and said that they could not find anything wrong with them and that they did not need replacing.
I complained to the Manager at mercedes who told me to bring the car back, when on ramps he showed me a 1mm deflection and said Mercedes had a zero movement policy.

Interesting! I've had the following advisories on my recent MOT and at 32k miles. Given that there are few speed bumps in this area and that I go slow over those there are, I wouldn't have expected these at this mileage. What do you think?
  • Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play camber arm (5.3.4 (a) (i))
  • Offside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play camber arm (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Rear brake pads were also highlighted, but I had those done as I knew that they were getting low.

If its an advisory I would leave it be. You will probably find an Indy garage wont even advise on that.

As mentioned if you hear a clonk then its time to replace.

I also find their price eye watering. I did the lower arm on my C250CDi 2012 and the Febi arm (OEM spec) was £60 and took me less than a hour to fit.

How they justify £890 is beyond me.
