I have an LPG converted ML320. It works well and returns about 32-36 mpg equivlient. Conversion costs around 2k so it takes a year or so to return back the initial setup costs.

I never really understand this equivelant bit. I know you mean equivelant to petrol cost but as the price of both products varies do you recalculate, as that wouldneed to be every fill up.
A better measurement would be nnn miles per litre giving xx cost per mile for either product.
Your figures suggest a cost similar to running a diesel ML.
