Hi all,

I know this is a long shot. Was just going out to the bank tonight, driving through our village and this imbecile in a silver C class overtook me and the car behind on the wrong side of the road with a car coming head on to him, he then swerved back into the correct lane (bearing in mind we're talking a 20-30mph village road here), just missing my bumper. I blew my horn and he slammed on the brakes - which is where I saw it was a C63.

I guess this was supposed to intimidate me - I can look after myself, so blew the horn again as at this point he was stationary in the middle of the road - he then sped of.

It all happened quite quickly - but I am sure the registration (private) was 3 letters followed by two numbers. I have an idea what the reg was but guess I'm not supposed to give it here.

It was a silver C63 - seen in between Warton and Lytham, Lancashire at around 7pm on Saturday 15th December. I'm not an old slipper-wearing Micra driver, this was the most wreckless driving I have ever witnessed since passing my test in 1993. It is only a matter of time before he kills himself (hopefully) or someone else (more likely!).

I know certain models of cars tend to gather enthusiast owners, and I'm sure the C63 is one of them.

I intend to contact the community police, but just thought I'd comment here in the hope I could get more details, maybe there's a chance given the model. Like I say, I know it's a long shot!

Many thanks in advance,

Mike.

It must be a hardore C63 enthusiast, someone who absolutely loves everything about them.

Obviously DM :D.

Hi GrumpyOldPerson,

Thanks for that. Like I say, I only had an idea of the reg - I tried a few possible numbers, but you only get a few goes in a given day.

Thanks though.

I would have thought you will need a witness or for it to be caught on CCTV without it I would have though it would just be your word against there's.

Hi Mocas - thanks, I'm on with it but I think I need to play more Suduko :).

Hi Savman. Yes - for now I just wanted to try and get the reg. The driver behind me lives down the same street - as I reversed off my drive, she was doing the same and we drove to the main road together, I don't know her - but I'm sure she'll remember what went on tonight! Also, it took place opposite a petrol station, so CCTV is possible too!

My gaffer once flicked a V at someone who wouldn't let them in on the motorway and he got a letter from the police.

Regards,

Mike.

You have 2 hopes of getting any action out of LanCon for this... and bob is dead.

Without witnesses and evidence that can confirm the car beyond reasonable doubt it is basically a waste of their time. Sure the drive is a **** - but it wont go anywhere.

Hello Mike, most on here are friends, so you're unlikely to get what you want, even if he/she is known,

Hi, yes I realise what you're both saying . I wasn't expecting anything more than perhaps being able to mention to our local PCSOs (who are always wandering around) what happened. There is a bulletin at the moment about speeding in the area (mainly mopeds though!). I'm sure this is his usual standard of driving.

I'm sure I'll see him again.

Many thanks.

Why should that be an issue? If the idiot is on here then you have no business defending them .

I didn't suggest it was an issue - I suggested it was a likelihood.

Regarding me defending them - very creative of you :D.

Is he possibly a regular user of the road, in which case perhaps a stakeout to see if he passes that way again.

Hi Ierton - thanks. It would be a fine world if everyone had your outlook.......I suppose what John is saying, and maybe I would do the same, is that if it were a friend he'd perhaps tell him not to be a fool rather than getting him in hot water.

I don't want to be too deep John - but driving like this on damp, dark public roads (not least 10 days from Christmas) where there's traffic, cyclists, pedestrians going innocently about their daily business is not acceptable. Perhaps it means more to me having been to funerals with 3-4 foot long coffins - wouldn't wish this on anyone. Driving like this is not to be encouraged in any way, shape or form....and I think with big grins you are doing this. Hopefully unwittingly?

I've had some powerful cars, including a 911 and an M5. It's fun to rag them down country lanes - or open them up a bit on a quiet dual carriageway, but acting mindlessly in a fairly busy village where there are so many opportunities to ruin peoples' lives is a tragedy waiting to happen. This guy, driving like he did tonight, will definitely cause a horrible incident at some point.

So, no, I never came here expecting it to end in a Crown court appearance. If the imbecile just reads this, and there's a real chance he will, then it's been worthwhile as far as I'm concerned.

I'm grateful for all your help. I'm still working on the reg :).

Artyman, it made me smile :). I'm not going to let this take over my life obviously, but I will be keeping my eyes open for him. I can't deny, I don't care if he's Mike Tyson, my wish is to drag him out of that car and kick 5 different kinds of sh#t out of him.

Cheers,

Mike.

Don't be a fool (forum friend).

Hello Mike, I entirely agree - dangerous driving is bad news and more than a little irritating when you're on the receiving end of it.

I'm only suggesting that a name and shame via this forum is unlikely for the reason mentioned.

I'm loving the steam restoration :thumb:.

Hi Martyz - thanks, I have quite a few wishes including winning the lottery and buying a 100 acre farm to build my own mini railway on :).

Thanks John - I hear what you say. My miniature steam engine is a new build. The hobby is dying so feel free to ask for advice regarding making a start :).

Regards, Mike.

Short of having recording of the incident sufficient to identify the vehicle reg, I doubt that it would go anywhere. And certainly not as far as court unless there was additional independent corroborating evidence (my lay view).

Mike, if you're willing to make a formal complaint and back it up with a statement then the police should be duty-bound to follow it up.

They will be able to check for any locally-registered silver C63's and check the VRM's against what you believe you saw. Not difficult for them to check, trust me!! They might not find the vehicle in question but it's worth a go.
