Hi there,

I have a 190e 2.6 with standard manual tranny which was registered in 04/88 that has an engine number M103.942.
Basically... the engine as gone dead!

so I have decided to go for the M103 (12v) 3.0 Ltr as a replacement:rock:.

But the issue I have is which engine to go for? as there are various different engine numbers for the M103 3.0 (12v) and M103 2.6 (12v)

The engine numbers which I have gathered for the M103 engines are as follows:
(The might be more... or need correcting:dk:)

1. 103.985 (3.0 12v)
2. 103.983 (3.0 12v)
3. 103.942 (2.6 12v which is currently in the engine)
4. 103.940 (2.6 12v)

I would prefer to go for the 3.0 (12v) as straight replacment but which one do I choose??

All help is appreciated!!:thumb:
cheers!

One possible change in engine no version would the move from a simplex to a duplex camshaft timing chain---- KAT v non KAT exhaust----- leaded v unleaded +compression ratio ----and differences in the Bosch JETONIC fuel injection system.:dk:

Visit Mercedes 190e You will need to register, but will only take a couple of minutes.

Several owners on this site have done this conversion and will be well placed to advise.
