Hi,

This is my first ever post. I have recently purchased a gorgeous 1988 300 SE.

She sounds healthy but give's out a burst of blue smoke upon sharp acceleration.

I have read many posts and now believe this to be valve seals?

If this is the case would replacing them be the most thorough fix and also what sort of money am I looking at... i DONT THINK I'M GOING TO TRY TACKLING THE JOB MYSELF.

Have you ruled out piston rings or bore wear etc,

Is acceleration the only time it smokes?

Valve seals usually cause smoke when you first start it and when you decelerate & then accelerate again.

If it is just under acceleration only it may be the rings.
Better do some more investigation before you replace anything.
