Hi All,

I collected a w123 280CE today, it ran very well at up to 85 mph for over an hour down the M6.

As soon as I hit slow progress, the temperature zoomed up towards 120. The cab air blew hot until the temperature rose rapidly when it blew cold, this despite the fan being on full hot when the temp rose.

As the temp hit max, the air suddenly blew hot and the temp started to drop.

Any advice most welcome!

Cheers,

Paul

I've read that there are two types of fan fitted to the 110?? Is this symptom peculiar to viscous or could it be the electro-mag one?

Cheers,

Paul

The hot/cold thing is likely an airlock. We had exactly the same thing on a 280SL just last week.

.

Aaah,

Better thing!

I'll park it up an incline and run to temp. I'll also give the fan the carrot test later.

Cheers,

Paul

I was going to take it off at the start, should I wait until it gets hot?

No, that's fine. Just the one we did mid-week sat there on the hill, then when the cap was removed there was an almighty gloop and the thing's been fine ever since.
