Hello guys.

I have done my breather covers valve cover gasket a while ago, all was fine but i noticed the valve cover leaking a bit even if gasket was new (aftermarket ), i retorqued everything to 8nm the leak has reduced a bit but still leaks, i bought a new genuine Mercedes gasket today and fitted it the leak has stopped except on tiny drop from the rear bolt near bulkhead..i gave it a nip up like half a turn extra but it still leaks when engine warms up.

Any ideas what is wrong?i didnt use sealant because wis doesnt mention it.i guess these engine simply love to leak oil.
Thx

I had this on my E320 a while back. I put a light smear of hylomar blue on the gasket and it didn't leak again. Don't cake RTV everywhere or over-tighten the bolts.

I think i have this issue on my 2004 clk320 any idea of cost to get it fixed at a specialist? I am getting a small (minute) amount of smoke on the offside only noticed it today while topping up the water bottle ready for the MOT.....Will this small leak affect the MOT?.....
Sorry amazigham didnt mean to hijack just seemed to good to miss the opportunity:thumb:

Tony.
