M113 500 engine VS 55AMG N.A.

Guys,

New here, first post from holland, greetings to you all.

Posted a similar question at other forums, but till now, no answers.
Can some advise me about this:
M113 5.0 engine has to be taken out of the car for a major timing repair. (r230)
While planning this work, i was thinking about a possible upgrade.
Some M113 AMG55 natural aspirated engines can be found on the net, even low milage ones.
Would that bring a definite advantage regarding low rpm torque/power?
The 5.0 feels a little lame around the 2000rpm range, curious to here from someone with experience what could be expected from such a swap.
And can someone declare the differences in specs (HP/torque at rpm) between the 55 version in the different models?
it ranges from 347HP 510NM in ML55 to 367HP 530NM in CLK, while, according to EPC, intakemanifolds, valves, camshafts, heads are all the same partnumbers.
Software/exhaust maybe?
(ML55 version seems the lowest rpm/torque version)

Any advise appreciated!
 
Hello and welcome . Why not just find a used M113K engine extra 100bhp for nothing. Will need to come with the correct headers ECU etc . It should bolt right in .

Want to run on lpg in the near future, a low compression m113K is not the best companion for lpg i think. The N.A. AMG 55, with its 10.5:1 compression ratio, would be very compatible on the other hand.
Apart from that, would like to do an "incognito conversion"; no visable changes under the bonnet.
 
OK. I have a C55 with a M113 5.4 AMG V8 engine , it was seen as the 'end of the line' for the N/A M113 V8 AMG engine . I hear there is little to be gained in 'tuning' this engine $/bhp wise but 'tuned headers' are available (more so for LHD cars) . Note that the AMG versions also have a different transmission , and (i think) differential ratio.
