Hi,
I noticed the other day that the rear pulley of the two (the alternator idler pulley) has cracked in half, so the belt is only on half the pulley.
Has anyone fixed this & got any tips ?

cheers

Baz

Had to replace my pulley when the bearing failed. You can't buy the components separately, although they strip down. It only comes as an assembly. Cost about £200 from my local motor factors. Over £450 from MB. You should also replace your belts at the same time. They're not expensive. You're probably looking at a couple of hours labour.

Don't drive it until you replace it. If the belt let's go, you'll lose your PS, water pump and suspension

Yes, that too.
Just checked and I paid £240 for pulley and both belts from PCS in Derby. OEM standard stuff. My indie charged £96 to fit including fluids and general safety check. The only time he hasn't given the cars a once-over is when he changed a sidelight bulb on the CLS FOC.
MB quoted £465.60 just for the pulley.
