Guys I have a 560 sel engine, gearbox, loom and ecu's from a car I scraped long ago. My original intension was to swap this into a w124, but I seem to be sticking with improving the inline 6 so it needs to go.

My question is, how do I tell if I have the standard 5.6 with 250ish bhp, or the 'ece' version with 299bhp? Some of the wiring harness has 'ece' on it, as dose at least one ecu. Dose this mean I have 299bhp? :dk:

I was going to do the same to my 124, was offered a deal with the 5.6 M117, gearbox and rear diff from a UK registered 560 SEL not so long ago.

I decided against it and to stick to my straight 6 instead. My 124 is my only car and my daily drive so that sort of a conversion would mean it would be off the road for a pretty long time.

Im guessing the amount of money that will cost me to do, I can use that money to put towards an S211 320 CDi which I need.

Yes it did come out of a uk car, a shockingly rotten one at that!

My w124 had a 3.0 m103 when I bought it, so I got hold of a the w126 donner to git a bit more power (and noise!). In the end though, the 3.6 m104 being a "bolt in" job, it seemed a better way to go. I often wonder what the car would be like with the 5.6 installed though!
