Hi, just some general info that may assist others one day.
M156 Engine, 112,000 miles - Dipstick popping out under full load.
Suspected PCV Valve blocked. No codes of whistling noise tho.
Replaced it (it's not too bad on the ML to do, more room between bulkhead engine). Blew threw it (by mouth, both ways), clear and not obstructed
Dipstick still popping out.
Dipstick feels like the O Ring is good and it holds firm in the dipstick tube. Noticed the bit that goes in the oil (plastic bit at the bottom) was starting to crack. Replacement dipstick ordered.
New design on the new dipstick. The head is completely different and it has a two stage mechanism to keep it in the dipstick tube.
1 - The O Ring
2 - A Click mechanism that grabs onto the rolled lip of the dipstick tube.
Anyone else that gets the dipstick popping out on a M156 that does not have the whistling noise from the back of the engine. Replace the dipstick first and save some time and pain.
