Hi All,

Newbie here, first time ever joining a forum although I regularly search on them.
Just bought myself a cls63 shooting brake m157 thankfully with a newer chain.

Just had a look at the cam sensors and one needs replacing for sure. Not sure if this is the right section to post but does anyone know the part number and best place to order from ?

Many thanks

:)

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

On a side note I seen someone recently asked about timing chain on the m157. If it has the new chain, does it automatically have the checked valve ?

Not 100%, but I believe it has.

Glad I changed these !
I had Oil in the ecu as well, gave it a good clean. Hopefully that’s the end of that and it hasn’t caused anything too serious.

I would take the opportunity to investigate if the cam magnet wire blockers for the M271 engine can be fitted to the M157.
I see no reason why they can't provided the plug that attaches the cam sensor to the harness is the same.
These are the fellows I'm talking about. Once fitted, they prevent oil wicking up the harness into the ECU.

Yes very good idea but at face value looks like it’s a 2 pin and m157 are 3 pins. Need to have a good look for something that could work.

Do you have any video explaining about check valve and tensioner install ?

Been searching everywhere for a decent tutorial or walkthrough but not to much avail. Surely some people must have diy’d it or is there any indys around east midland area that anyone can vouch for.

Thanks

Here's a video on the check valves

If you can get to Small Heath Birmingham, MSL Performance can do this work.
No idea on Mercedes specialists in the E Midlands.

Mercedes Leicester did my check valves and tensioners with a huge contribution from mercedes. Worked out cheaper than I could buy the parts.

How long ago was this ? Did it have any requirements - ie did you buy the car from them or have a full Mercedes dealer history ?

To be fair it did have full dealer history, the last two at mercedes Leicester. No harm going down and asking though?

Try Mercland in Nuneaton, would definitely recommend them as do others on the forum

Which year did you get? &Congrats on your purchase btw.
I am looking for a one with newer chain but have seen examples with and without the newer chain in 2013 year, so have been looking at 2014 model year mainly (not that there is a vast choice). The lack of dealer awareness on this issue especially when they take as a PX has also been interesting.

2014> registered cars should all have the later chain. Just open the oil filler cap to confirm. Most dealers wouldn't have a clue.
In case you aren't aware, the older chain has two thinner links side by side on each link shown in photo below.

Found wire blockers that fit the cam sensors on a M157 engine. They are 3 pin same as the M278 engine.
Worth bookmarking in case you want to fit a set. Haven't found any UK supplier:(

on top of that there's camshaft adjusters blockers as well : 2711500156, might as well while you are at it !

Is that the eBay item number.
