M271.940 2005 c200k

As above my mum is looking at a Mb c200k 2005 (55) with a m271.940 engine.

Is the above lump the engine that suffer's cam chain/sprocket wear?

Would you avoid this engine? car has done 63k

I bought one before christmas with similar mileage. You are correct this is one of the engines that do suffer but only down to bad maintenance in my eyes. Mine had a full rebuild prior to me buying so im good but you need to check history for chain change and if so make sure the tensioner was also done. The pcv pipes under the air box and inlet manifold can cause problems but theyre not alot to replace provided your good at diy. As long as theres no rattles or tapping once warm you will be good.
