I’ve just had a diagnostic from a very reputable Merc. Indi. in London (FOC). He says that mine will need a new balance shaft ‘at some point’ as it is an effected engine. Can anyone confirm or corroborate please?

Do we trust the engine cut off point number of 2729..30 468993? It appears to originate from a Mercedes internal memo, and it would not have been in there interest to give a free repair to those vehicles outside of the court ruling.

Thanks all (apologies if i have not followed protocol. Not great at forums).

Might the indie have misread your engine number?

Possibly, but I’ve just got off the phone with another independent and he said anything before 2009 is vulnerable to the problem.

He also said that it is impossible to tell from the engine number? I’m becoming confused as to who to believe...arggggh
