From what I have heard, cleaner will not cure the MAF issue, if that's what you have. Rarely do they fail due to a contaminant that can be cleaned off.

Don't waste your time, get a GENUINE MB replacement.

I over oiled a filter and clogged a master air flow up once, managed to clean it with a solvent terminal solution.
It's a spray on and leave to evaporate.
Cleaned mine up ok but it was only lightly soiled
If yours is at all damage rather than clogged then get a new one save yourself loads of trouble

Use throttle body cleaner. - It's designed to shift exactly the kind of muck that fouls the inlet pathway.
