Hello everyone
Last week I completed Maff's (mbclub.co.uk member/admin) Mercedes C63 AMG. Now this car never had paint correction as this is more of an everyday car for the family. But that was about to change after a phone call from Maff. One of his builders had taken it upon himself to clean his car as a good gesture. But thought it was a good idea to remove tar spots with a scouring pad. Yes thats right, a scouring pad. This had flattened the paint completly in 8 areas of the car with large deep multiple scratches. After taking some paint readings the builder had removed 6 microns of laquer. Now this was alot but by the way the rest of the car was reading, i was confidant in removing these completly or at least a large safe amount. Now this was fine except with the car covered in swirl marks it would look odd flattening and polishing these areas and leaving it at that. So it was agreed to do whatever I needed to bring this very sorry car back to life.
Unfortunately due to time scales I never top any before shots, but im sure Maff will tell you the difference in car after.
The process was as follows:
-Wheels cleaned with bilberry and iron x.
-Tyres, arches, exhausts cleaned with megs all purpose cleaner
-Car pre washed in bilthammer autofoam.
-Front end pre treated with poorboys bugger.
-Car washed with dodo juice btbm using the 2bm.
-Car dried with 70/30 towel.
-Gaps, grilles, shuts, badges and wheels dried with warm air blower.
-Car given full IPA wipedown.
-Car polished with 2 hits of scholl concepts s17 on a scholl concepts orange medium polishing pad.
-Scouring marks flattened with scholl concepts S0. Then compounded with scholl concepts s3 gold edition on a lake country medium grade wool pad. The polished with s17 on an scholl concepts orange pad.
-Car was then rewashed and dried with the warm air blower.
-A further ipa wipedown was given to ensure true finish.
-Car was refined with ultrafina SE on a 3m blue finishing pad on the G220.
-Wheels weer protected on jeffs acrylic strong.
-Tyres dressed in pneu.
-Exhaust tips were cleaned with scholl concepts S0 on 0 grade wool. Then polished with zeppelin finishing polish.
-Glass was polished with dodo juice supernatural glass polish.
-Paintwork was then protected in 2 coats of Dodo Juice Engel.
While there was some major surgery going on, on the outside the inside needed some serious attention too. Being used day to day and a family trip to france had left it looking quite dirty indeed. The following was completed for the inside:
-All plastics degreased with Megs all purpose cleaner.
-All plastics treated with jeff werstatt matte.
-All leather cleaned with zaino z9.
-All leather treated with zaino z10.
-All inside glass cleaned with megs glass cleaner.
-Everything given a hardcore Vacuum!!!!
Anyway, here after 32 Hours is the finshed article, enjoy!
Also a sneeky little HD Video of the car to get a good fill of what it looked like on completion.(Turn that 1080p on!)
