Hey guys

Planning to swap out my old exhaust for a new one. What do you guys think of magnaflow exhausts?
Im planning on picking up this one for my w202:

Any opnions on other brands?
Remus is mainly for performance, and im more looking towards a new loud/crisp sound to my car.

Can't help with Magnaflow but be aware that exhaust mods of any kind can affect your insurance (you must declare them).

You don't say what engine you have, but a very simple and cheap mod is to have the centre box removed from the standard exhaust system (and replaced with straight-through pipe).

thanks. Ive alreadey seen the videos on youtube before hand, but I was more wondering about the brand (magnaflow) itself and is it suitable for meceredes benz vehicles?

Thanks.

Could you get rid of the centre box on a c230k or would it be too loud??

Ive heard only good things about magnaflow, good quality, not sure on prices tho'.Remus are just as good but they only do a rear box, which from personal experience do sound very loud,in a good way that is:devil:.Have heard supersprint and Ansa do exhausts but haven't had any experience with them.

im really interested in knowing how remus sounds like? What i hear is it is mainly just for performance, and it just sound stock.
I like it loud. :D Could you direct me to the parts which you purchased?

Thanks!

The Remus that I had fitted was loud but sounded good.

Just put a Sebring on my car. Picked it up from Ebay for 40 squid, and the Gent brought it down to Southampton for me! (He was on his way to Devon) ;) Anyway, fitted it myself in 30 minutes and sounds great! Got a nice bit of 'raspiness' to it at higher revs with a nice 'Purrrrrr' at idle. As to performance? wouldn't have a clue, it just looks and sounds nice. :)

By the way you can get them new for about £270.00.

Ciao.

Dunno, but the increase in volume on my R129 wasn't a lot ... even with an AMG back box.

Yup that's the right approach to exhaust mods - power increase is likely to be negligible really.

thanks for all the replies guys
I am planning to pick this one up:

I am a little confused with this part "The Street Series is recommended for street cars with bolt-on performance modifications"
What do they mean by "bold on" I thought mufflers were supposed to be welded onto to the car?
Which method of installation would be best if i purchased this muffler?

Thanks!

The Street Series is designed for the souped up street machine. It features a high flow tuning tube, balanced to the needs of the high revving import engine. The Street Series emits a smooth, deep tone while offering improved performance over OEM equipment. The Street Series is recommended for street cars with bolt-on performance modifications and custom body kits.

I think they mean its most suited to jap cars that are high revving with not much more than bolt on induction kit, maybe a performance chip upgrade and some ricer body kit to hide the fact the back box sits well below the bumper and looks toss just on its own..

Something for you to compare against.I found a picture of the remus box me and High-Lo had fitted. The tailpipes are located at the bottom of the box and point upwards, and have adjustable mounting brackets to hide the box behind the bumper out of sight.

thanks for all the helpful answers.
Ive actually been looking at this exhaust since your've posted it up.
How much did you guys get yours for?
I see them starting from at least 220GBP

I paid about the same as you have seen, probably a bit more can't remember now.So £220 seems quite good.

I paid round about £375 2years ago for my the cat back system.
It would be around £450 now.

This is the system I got for 41.00. There are bargains out there to be had, you just have to be patient. And basically it looks and sounds pretty much the same as any new one I've heard.
Personally I think it's crazy to pay that sort of money on an old car.

But hey, that's me, I don't, and wouldn't, presume for one second for everyone to think the same. ;)
