Mains Powered Tyre Inflator

I'm looking for a good mains powered tyre inflator, I'd love something that works as well as the compressors on a garage forecourt but that may be asking too much but do want something that's quite quick and with a bit more muscle than the 12v cigarette lighter ones.

Does anyone happen to have experience of these at all

or these

and any idea how quickly they'd blow a tyre up from flat???

Or would I be better off going for one with a tank something like this
STANLEY AIR BOSS COMPRESSOR PORTABLE SHOULDER STRAP 5 LT 1,5HP 10 BAR AIRBOSS | eBay

or is the tank that small that it won't be any quicker then the other 2 and may as well just go with one of them

I already have a half decent 12v one that came with the car but I want something I can leave plugged in in the garage and have readily available to do 4 bike tyres and 3 sets of car tyres one straight after the other and get them done as quickly as possible rather than just hanging around waiting for it to fill with air and without flattening a car battery.

Any help / input or alternative suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Get a decent compressor, it has far more uses than checking tyres! I have air tools for drilling and mechanicing (no longer used!), best is the "paraffin gun" used for spray painting fences and sheds, much better than using a paintbrush!

Agree with above, i have a small compressor with a 25 ltr tank and it plenty for everything i need.
Not very expensive either.

I guess my only reason for trying to avoid the compressor was the size as ideally wanted something I could put on the shelf out of the way when not using it. The Stanley one I gave the link to, do you not think it'd be "Man Enough" for the job as it is a compressor but obviously with a small tank ??

I've never used a compressor before so have no idea what 5 ltr 10 Bar tank may equate to in terms of filling up a tyre and how long it may take.

A small compressor will do a much better job of tyre inflation than the links you posted. Tbh they won't be much better than the 12v inflators. Purely because of the lack of storage space. (Tank)

Obviously you'll never achieve the speed of a tyre garage compressor unless you go massive. But a small DIY compressor will be much more use than the wall mounted inflators.

I've got a small compressor in my workshop and its come in so handy. Aside from the tyre inflator I have needle adaptor for blowing balls up, air blower for cleaning things and inflating blow up beds. For around £100 ish you'll not regret it's uses.

Ant.

Viair compressor is the best I have come across will inflate hgv tyre no problem but they are not cheap

Machinemart do a reasonable range of small compressors, we have one in work and has given us sterling work for about 20 years. The good thing using a compressor is that you can gat a wide range of tools from tyre inflators to saws.

I ran one of these Wolf Super 50 Litre 10BAR Cheyenne Air Compressor | UKHS.tv professionally for around 15 months but it's very noisy. I replaced it with a much quieter belt drive unit Wolf Dakota 100 - 14 CFM, 3HP Air Compressor | UKHS.tv which is still running well after 3 years of abuse in my van. Maybe a bit big just for tyres, but imho good value. And after sales for warranty items (just a pressure valve) was excellent too.

P.S. I now have an ABAC screw compressor in the workshop producing 54cfm, but that may be a tad expensive for 'domestic' use.

OK, if I do go for a compressor, is 8 Bar enough, I think I saw somewhere that some tools require 10 Bar ..... in all reality though I'm probably only going to use if for the tyres mainly although the idea of being able to spray paint a fence did have an appeal.

I've listed a few more options, again I like the smallest one listed 1st best just because of the size but a couple of people in the reviews mentioned it may not be so good for spraying ... interested to see what other people think

Other alternatives are below, again if anyone has comments on any of them would be appreciated

The cheapest

Their cars seem reasonably reliable so I guess their other products should be??
HYUNDAI AIR TOOLS 24 LITRE AIR COMPRESSOR 7.4CFM 2.5HP 8 BAR POWERFULL | eBay

The more expensive but the only larger capacity that goes to 10 Bar
Stanley 8117190SCR513 24Ltr Compressor 240V | Air Compressors | Screwfix.com

My choice would be out of the 1st two with the smallest preferred but not if 12 ltr isn't going to be enough and if not will the 2nd suffice and do most jobs / operate most tools??

You don't need pressure, you need capacity or you'll run out of air if you want to use tools. If you seriously want to buy your first choice, save your money and stick with what you've already got.

Or have a look at my earlier reply ;)

I did, but I've got to be honest it's £239 plus the tyre inflator / gauge and any
other tools that you may want to add make pumping up a few tyres a little bit quicker and more convenient ...... granted it's then nice to have the option of the extra functionality but I just wonder if I'm losing sight of what I'm realistically going to use it for.
The £239 is an awful lot of 20p's in a petrol station forecourt!!!!

The Cheyanne twin cylinder is on offer at £199, and is more than capable of doing what you want, but if it is just for tyres, it would be a bit of an indulgence :thumb:

I have just bought this for under £70 when the 20% code was active a few days ago. Seems well built but time will tell. For the price I am happy for it to last the 12 months warranty that comes with it. I have only tested it with an air blower yet to see if it fills up correctly etc and so far so good.
