Mains-powered tyre inflators

What are the MB ones supplied with the space saver tyre like? I have one in my SLK but have never had occasion to use it.

Hey Brian.

My car doesn't come with a spare but it does have that plug in compressor thing for the tyre repair stuff.

I'll have a look at it when I'm in.

Turns out that Paul was probably right.. the Maplins adaptor is unlikely to work.

May just have to get a sturdier manual pump :(

Has no one thought to make a simple mains inflator?? :wallbash:

I guess most people don't have a mains socket where they park their car, so the market would be limited. Garages etc. tend to use bigger compresors.

I've got power sockets in the garage (for the SL), but not on the drive where our other 2 vehicles (and caravan) are. So rechargeable one is a good solution for me.

I bought the michelin inflator that plugs into the lighter socket several years ago........one of the best gadgets Ive ever bought :):thumb:

Over the years I have had several small compressors and frankly they are all pretty much cheap tat made in China. The best of the bunch has been a Maplin 12v heavy duty air compressor - it's only £15 and you can reserve and collect or even buy it on ebay through their outlet. It's the same compressor that is sold for more by others.
i don't know how accurate the gauge is but it seems to show the same pressure as the garage and manual pumps. One nice day i will check it against my pressure gauge if i can find it:-)

You know you want to...

Why don't you get yourself a bottle of nitrogen, no pumping/mains/12v needed :)

NITROGEN CYLINDER FULL MOTOR SPORT | eBay

Just need a suitable airline, gauge etc. Would suit your OCD down to the ground as nitrogen is supposed to be preferable to compressed air for filling tyres! :D ;) :)

A friend bought one of these recently, though I don't think it's for his tyres.

Hey Rashman,

I got fed up of manual pump and petrol stations so invested in a pump that runs of the power in the car, and really glad I did it.

Above is similar to what I bought. I can dig out the exact details if you want as I got it from Amazon. Right now Eurocarparts have a sale on so maybe you can get a good discount?

Rashman.

With a garage like yours I would invest in a proper compressor and install some fixed air lines and connections, then swap all your tools to air from electric.

Yeah, you could be on to something there.
