Making noise and stopping...

Hello again guys,

Been away for a while. Redundancy earlier in the year meant I had to ignore the car (I have a tendancy to spend all my money on shiny things for it:bannana but i'm employed and back to enjoying Mercedes ownership again now!

I have a few questions, as have been offered some car parts for my C230K, and am not sure what to do!

First up I've been offered the front brake setup from a C36. Is this much different to my current setup? Would there be a noticeable improvement on braking performance from upgrading? WIll it even fit?!

Secondly, I've been offered the exhaust backbox from a C43, however its an estate. Is this something that a competent exhaust shop will be able to fit? I'm going to get custom piping and a sports cat fitted, but am worried the C43 backbox will be hooj and wont fit! Also, anyone done this before? What's the soubnd like, and will I need a centre silencer?!

I've already done a few little mods since I started work again,(new airbag, puddle lights, auto dim RVM, engine cover re-spray, sound-system) and will add some pics into the album section soon (great improvement to the site btw ).

Arent the estate boxs side to side as opposed to saloons front to back if you see what i mean
Just looked on the russian site and it looks like i was wrong assuming this is the correct exhaust that is?

Just got a pic of it through and the guy was mistaken, its from a saloon Good to know it would've fitted anyway though - thanks for looking up the plans for me!

No idea how its gonna sound on a 4-pot?!

Take the exhaust, no need for the brakes, the brakes are slightly bigger than ours but not by much, its not worth the hassle with no extra power, yours will be fine i'm sure.

Do you still want shot of your other sports cat? Think im going to do a sports cat - my middle silencer - C43 backbox, but with 1.5in stainless steel piping.

Yeah sure i'll give it to you cheaper now since i've used it a bit. I'm going to be @ Ollys this Saturday by the way.

As long as you keep the original silencer you have on the car, no backbox that you put on will be too loud. I've got mine removed and its fairly loud but still not barry.

It is indeed mate, but that wont be for 6 months or so. Toying with the idea of flaring the arches at the same time. Nothing outrageous, just subtle and a little bit different. Dont really fancy a body-kit for it. Dislike the 43 kit and the 36 isnt that different to the facelift lines IMO.

There's not much left to do other than that I dont think! She's just clicked over 151,000 miles, but when the engine goes pop then I'll be looking for a more meaty replacement possibly a 5.5, but deff merc AMG. Hopefully a long term project though, as I think she's still got some miles left in her yet.
