Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, who is the MD of Euro Car Parts has today left with immediate effect. Sukhpal is the typical Asian rags to riches story - came to the UK at the age of 13 as a refugee, in 1978 he started off in a cornershop selling autoparts. Built the business to a £248 Million turnover and sold out in 2011. As part of the sell out deal the new owners offered him a further £50 million to take the business to a new level, which it has struggled to do. Sukhpal is listed as the 277th richest person in the UK with a personal fortune of over £300 Million.

Euro Car Parts will not be the same without him, he was a sharp yet predatory businessman. He has topped out at a respectable 133 Branches, and a lot of consumers have benefited from low Euro Car Part prices.

Very much doubt the existing management will be able to negotiate deals like Sukhpal - watch this space ....

They actually wanted him to leave earlier, but couldn't find the correct code to activate his departure.
However, when they did eventually find the code, they realised they didn't really need it in the first place and the outcome they wanted (or even better) was available from many competitors if they had bothered to look.

i hope euro carry on doing well as i use them a lot

I currently spend around £8k a month with them so i hope they continue to do what they are atm.

He is a pleasant down to earth chap - been to a few cricket matches with him.

Maybe the same will happen as with Screwfix.

IIRC it was set up by a family who built it big and sold out to B&Q with a 2 year non-compete clause. They spent the time twiddling their thumbs and doing nothing of particular interest.

They opened Toolstation up just about on the stroke of midnight, undercutting Screwfix and doing free delivery on everything. In some places there's now a Screwfix at one side of the road and a Toolstation at the other. Priceless.

.

Crikey , your car must have a lot go wrong with it !

Sorry i should have explained, i Own my own Motor Factor Business in Harwich essex, and i sell to the local garages and general public.

When I bought an SDS drill recently, I bought the tile remover from the Toolstation not 4 shops along on an industrial estate...

I think a lot of the independent motor factors will breath a sigh of relief as euro car parts hoovered up a lot of the market share. Without sukhpal at the wheel they will lose some market share. Sukhpal would sit down every Friday and ask "right who is causing me trouble" and then he would muscle the competition out even if it meant selling goods at a loss. There are so many suppliers they work with, Sukhpal would turn up in his chauffer driven maybach wearing the latest rolex, and he would know everyone from the fork truck driver by first name terms upwards.. End of an era for ecp.

whoOooah.....

I've only just come across this post
*Bows Head in shame*

For the last few months people have thrown random rumours of do with ECP and LKQ around in order to try and disrupt the growth, we've heard it all, Sukhpal leaving, LKQ going bust, aliens crash landing in Wembley, but take it all with a pinch of salt...

So where are we now? 2 months after this post? Sukhpal is still here, we've hit record sales online and as a company and we've opened another 10 branches and the plans for the next 30 have been accelerated on the back of this!

To help avoid the silly lies and roumors and to help avoid any confusion, if you do post something like this, please drop me a PM so I can at least give you an inside opinion on it, rather than leading other forum member on...

Simple fact...Unless you hear it from me, then it's probably not true :)

You should know, we don't do fact one here.

LOL - good point!

It's my fault for missing this particular post. I could have quashed it there and then rather than members looking back at an 'official' looking post, from respected members and realising its just garbage :fail

Anyways, hey ho :)
